Interior painting done the slow way, where it counts

Most of what separates a paint job that lasts from one that peels happens before a brush touches the wall. We plaster and sand walls smooth, spot-prime every repair, and cut in by hand rather than taping and hoping. Then we paint.

Walker Painting has been doing residential work on Long Island since 1995, and no job is too small — even if it’s just one room.

  • Furniture moved to the center of the room and set on casters so nothing scars your floors
  • Heavy canvas drop cloths, never plastic sheeting underfoot
  • Wallpaper and backing removed, then plastering before priming
  • Sheetrock patching and water-damage repair, taped and spackled until invisible
  • Molding, trim and doors finished in semi-gloss; new molding installed if you want it
  • Certified lead-safe renovation on pre-1978 homes

How it goes

What working with us looks like

  1. Free on-site estimate

Dave or Sal walks the space with you, talks through finishes and colors, and writes up a fixed price. No obligation and no pressure.

  2. Prep and protection

Furniture to the center on casters, canvas drops down, fixtures and floors masked. Repairs, plastering and sanding come before any paint.

  3. Prime and paint

Spot-priming on every repair, then finish coats. Trim, molding and doors in semi-gloss unless you want something else.

  4. Walkthrough and warranty

We walk the job with you, touch up anything you flag, clean up fully, and leave you a copy of the one-year written warranty.

Why choose Walker

The part most painters skip is the part we’re known for

Prep, protection and paperwork. It is not glamorous, and it is the whole difference between a paint job that lasts and one that doesn’t.

Your home gets protected

We move everything to the center of the room, use casters so nothing scars the floor, and lay heavy canvas drop cloths — never plastic sheeting underfoot.

Lead-safe certified

We are a certified lead paint renovator and have completed the full certification coursework — which matters on almost every pre-1978 Long Island home.

One-year written warranty

Every paint job is covered by a one-year warranty against all paint failure. It is written down, and you get a copy.

Crews you can vet

Every employee is vigorously screened with multiple references. Most of our people have been with Walker Painting for 15 years.

Questions

Interior Painting FAQs

Do you move furniture?

Yes. We move everything to the center of the room, and casters are used to protect the floor.

How do you protect floors?

Heavy canvas drop cloths are used throughout.

Can you repair sheetrock and water damage?

Yes. We cut out sheetrock to remove all wet insulation, spray for mold, install new insulation, then close the opening with new sheetrock. Taped, spackled, primed and painted, it will be invisible.

Do you remove wallpaper?

Yes. Removing the wallpaper and its backing is only the first step — the next is plastering to make the walls smooth before priming and painting. We install all types of wall covering too.

How do you handle lead paint?

We are a certified lead paint renovator and have taken all the certification courses. The biggest part of the protection is controlling paint chips and lead dust.

Is there a warranty?

Yes. All paint jobs are covered by a one-year warranty against all paint failure, and you get a copy of it.
