Exterior painting

An exterior is only as good as what is under it

Salt air, freeze-thaw and full sun are hard on a Long Island exterior. We power wash first on almost every house we paint, change out rotted wood, patch and sand smaller repairs, and replace shingles where they are gone — then we paint.

Decks and railings get natural, transparent or solid stain depending on what you want and what the wood will take.

  • Power washing before painting on nearly every exterior we do
  • Rotted wood changed out; smaller repairs patched and sanded smooth
  • Shingle replacement where needed
  • Vinyl siding, decks, patios, pavers and driveways washed
  • Decks stained natural, transparent or solid color
  • Certified lead-safe renovation on pre-1978 homes

Full cleanup, walkthrough with you, and a copy of the one-year written warranty against paint failure.

Why choose Walker

The part most painters skip is the part we’re known for

Prep, protection and paperwork. It is not glamorous, and it is the whole difference between a paint job that lasts and one that doesn’t.

Your home gets protected

We move everything to the center of the room, use casters so nothing scars the floor, and lay heavy canvas drop cloths — never plastic sheeting underfoot.

Lead-safe certified

We are a certified lead paint renovator and have completed the full certification coursework — which matters on almost every pre-1978 Long Island home.

One-year written warranty

Every paint job is covered by a one-year warranty against all paint failure. It is written down, and you get a copy.

Crews you can vet

Every employee is vigorously screened with multiple references. Most of our people have been with Walker Painting for 15 years.

Questions

Exterior Painting FAQs

Do you power wash before painting?

Yes. Most houses that we paint will be power washed first. We also wash vinyl siding, decks, patios, pavers and driveways.

Do you change out rotted wood and replace shingles?

Yes. We change out rotted wood, and for smaller repairs we can patch and sand it smoothly.

Do you stain or paint decks?

Yes. Natural or transparent stain is common on decks, but some people prefer a solid color, which is no issue.

How do you handle lead paint?

We are a certified lead paint renovator and have taken all the certification courses.

Which areas do you cover?

We paint in Nassau, Suffolk, Queens and Manhattan.

Is there a warranty?

Yes — a one-year written warranty against all paint failure on every job.
